| What you need | Pupil Protect | CPOMS VisitorSafe |
|---|---|---|
| Who signs in | Visitors, contractors, supply staff, volunteers, governors, inspectors and other professionals, and adults collecting a pupil. Pre-registered visitors type the 6-character code from their email. Coming soon: staff and pupil sign-in, QR codes, PIN, ID cards, ID scanning and document upload. | Visitors at a tablet, and staff signing in and out. |
| Safeguarding briefing | Visitors read your safeguarding message and see who your DSL is before their badge prints. | Not stated publicly. |
| Checks on arrival | Reception sees the checks each expected visitor needs, such as DBS seen or agency confirmation, and the badge turns green once DBS is seen. Supply staff, volunteers and governors missing from the single central record in Staff are flagged. | DBS status checks by type of visitor, with guidance on screen. |
| Watch list | Your DSL, deputy DSL or head adds people who mustn't be admitted or collect a named pupil, and sign-ins are also checked against pupils' "no contact" contacts. On a match, no badge prints and the visitor is asked to take a seat. Reception sees what to do, and the DSL, deputy DSL and head are alerted. | Custom watchlists. |
| Fire roll call | On your phone at the assembly point, shared live with everyone who has it open. It opens on the people not yet seen, and the missing count is logged when you finish. | Not stated publicly. |
| Link to safeguarding records | Shares one sign-in and the same pupil and staff records with Safeguard and Staff. If reception refuses entry after a watch list match, an urgent concern is logged on the pupil's record. | Every visit can be logged in CPOMS StudentSafe. |
| Where data is kept | UK data centres. | UK, in Microsoft Azure data centres, according to CPOMS's due diligence document for all its services. |
| Certification | None yet. We're working towards certification. | CPOMS holds ISO 27001. It doesn't say whether this covers VisitorSafe. |
| Price | Published on our pricing page, per school per year, excluding VAT. One price includes Visitors and every other Pupil Protect product. | Not published. Quote on request. |

When CPOMS VisitorSafe may suit you better
No system is right for every school. These are fair reasons to choose CPOMS VisitorSafe.
- You already use CPOMS StudentSafe and want visits logged there.
- You'd rather add to your current supplier than change safeguarding system.
Moving from CPOMS VisitorSafe
We bring your records across and your DSL checks them before anything goes live.
We use CPOMS StudentSafe too. Do we have to move both?
No, but Visitors works best alongside Safeguard, which shares its pupil and staff records. See our comparison with CPOMS StudentSafe.
Can we keep our visitor history?
Export your visitor log from VisitorSafe for the period you need to keep. Coming soon: importing visitor history into Pupil Protect.
What hardware do we need?
Any tablet with a web browser, paired with a 6-digit code. Badges print through the browser to any printer the tablet can print to. Run the browser in kiosk mode with silent printing switched on to skip the print dialog.
