Pupil Protect vs Entrysign
Entrysign is a sign-in system used by schools and workplaces. Both sign visitors in at reception and help you account for people in an evacuation.
The main difference is that Visitors in Pupil Protect is built around safeguarding: a briefing before the badge prints, a quiet watch list, and records shared with your DSL team.

| What you need | Pupil Protect | Entrysign |
|---|---|---|
| Who signs in | Visitors, contractors, supply staff, volunteers, governors, inspectors and other professionals, and adults collecting a pupil. Pre-registered visitors type the 6-character code from their email. Coming soon: staff and pupil sign-in, QR codes, PIN, ID cards, ID scanning and document upload. | Self-service sign-in for visitors, and staff movements. |
| Safeguarding briefing | Visitors read your safeguarding message and see who your DSL is before their badge prints. | Not stated publicly. |
| Expected visits | A pre-registration link lets visitors add their own details and photo. At the kiosk they type the 6-character code from their email, and their badge prints. Supply staff, volunteers and governors missing from the single central record are flagged. Coming soon: scanning the code instead of typing it. | Pre-booked visitors. |
| Watch list | Your DSL, deputy DSL or head adds people who mustn't be admitted or collect a named pupil, and sign-ins are also checked against pupils' "no contact" contacts. On a match, no badge prints and the visitor is asked to take a seat. Reception sees what to do, and the DSL, deputy DSL and head are alerted. | Not stated publicly. |
| Fire roll call | On your phone at the assembly point, shared live with everyone who has it open. It opens on the people not yet seen, and the missing count is logged when you finish. | Evacuation. |
| Link to safeguarding records | Shares one sign-in and the same pupil and staff records with Safeguard and Staff. | Not stated publicly. |
| Where data is kept | UK data centres. | Not stated publicly. |
| Certification | None yet. We're working towards certification. | ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. |
| Price | Published on our pricing page, per school per year, excluding VAT. One price includes Visitors and every other Pupil Protect product. | Not published. |
“Not stated publicly” means we couldn’t find it on Entrysign’s website. It may still be available, so ask them. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email sales@pupilprotect.co.uk and we’ll correct it.
When Entrysign may suit you better
No system is right for every school. These are fair reasons to choose Entrysign.
- You want staff movements and visitors in one sign-in system.
- You only want visitor management, without a safeguarding records system.
- You want a supplier that also serves workplaces outside education.
Moving from Entrysign
We bring your records across and your DSL checks them before anything goes live.
Can we keep our visitor history?
Export your visitor log from Entrysign for the period you need to keep. Coming soon: importing visitor history into Pupil Protect.
What hardware do we need?
Any tablet with a web browser, paired with a 6-digit code. Badges print through the browser to any printer the tablet can print to. Run the browser in kiosk mode with silent printing switched on to skip the print dialog.
What about our list of people who mustn't be admitted?
Your DSL adds them to the Visitors watch list before go-live. By default, only the DSL, deputy DSL and headteacher can see and change it.
